Hi there! I am from the pacific northwest (Oregon and Washington), Go Seahawks! My family moved to Las Vegas four years ago and have truly enjoyed making the valley our home. I am married, we have an amazing son and two dogs (whippets). We love the outdoors and are often out exploring.
My background is in vision development and special education. I became a Certified Optometric Vision Therapist in 2004 and obtained my Master’s Degree in Education specializing in both Special Education and Measurements and Assessments from Ashford University in 2013.
Most of my career has been spent working with children and adults with special needs and developmental vision problems. I have worked with clients of all ages with classroom struggles, delays, disabilities, traumatic brain injuries and post-stroke. I advocate for my students, collaborate with their teachers, therapists, and families to adapt classroom materials/lessons to meet the needs of my students.
I believe each person is capable of learning and overcoming challenges. I love to see my students build their self-confidence, work towards independence and thrive in a learning environment.
Each person carries with them at least one piece, to someone else’s puzzle. – Lawrence Kushner
