Hi, I am Denise Y. Cavoly-Eakin and I am thrilled to be on this team. I bring with me over 28 years’ experience advocating for children and their families. I started my career in 1992 working for the Department of Social Services San Luis Obispo County, California. After the birth of my son in 2001, I moved to Upstate New York where I earned my Master’s in Elementary and Special Education. Soon after I relocated outside of Charlotte, North Carolina to teach elementary school, and then moved into the Safe and Drug-Free Schools Department, where I was the Program Manager for six years. When the grant ended, I returned to work at the local Social Services, and I worked on obtaining my Doctorate in Education. I spent the last 6 years prior to moving to Las Vegas, Nevada working with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District in Charlotte, North Carolina on Special Projects.
Based on my skills in the area of literacy, passion for student success, quality improvement, cross-functional team leadership, and working in at-risk schools, I believe I have what it takes to advocate for the needs of all my students.
I have a solid educational foundation with a passion for student success. Experience has taught me how to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, as well as exposure to many aspects of school district operations. This experience has helped me advocate for my own children’s education, as well as other students.
I have a Nevada Teaching License in Elementary K-6, Special Education K-12, School Administrator, and currently working on Reading Specialist Endorsement.
My husband and I share a blended family with 6 grown children ages 19 – 32, our two dogs: George & Guppy and our granddaughters, Makenna and Jessica.
I look forward to the opportunity to meet and work with many more families soon!
